Mend & Sew Group

The Mend & Sew Group meets monthly and is designed to assist people to complete upcycling or mending projects.

Groups will meet at each branch each month at the following days and times (excluding December):

  • Timaru: 9am - 11am (every 4th Friday of the month)
  • Geraldine: 2pm - 4pm (every 4th Friday of the month)
  • Temuka: 2pm - 4pm (every 4th Thursday of the month)

Each venue is limited to a maximum number of six participants, so bookings are essential. Participants will need to bring their own projects and equipment (there are a limited number of sewing machines available).

For further information please email mendandsew@timdc.govt.nz

Casual Sewing Machine Use

During the week there is a sewing machine available for public use at each library branch during opening hours.

If you would like to use one of these machines, you will need to:

  • Have a current library card
  • Be 16 years of age or over
  • Complete a simple licencing process to show you already know how to sew and can use these machines safely

To access this service or to find out more, please ask staff at your local library branch.

You will need to bring your own sewing supplies, as it is only the sewing machine which will be supplied by your library.
